As you may be aware, the Friends of Albacore have initiated a program for recognizing shipmates and friends both deceased and still living. This program was begun in response to an inquiry from a shipmate’s family seeking a way to recognize their loved one’s service on Albacore. After considering several options, the Friends Committee decided to offer a 4 x 8 inch engraved granite block at a cost of $60. These personalized blocks will be placed along the pathway in Albacore Park’s Memorial Garden.
As you can see from the accompanying photo, the engraved letters are highlighted in black for easy reading. While these first few blocks had not yet been permanently set in place at the time the photo was taken, we wanted everyone to have an appreciation for what they look like in case there were doubts as to their appearance and the quality of workmanship.
