SOCIAL MEDIA AND MARKETING INTERN - PAID

Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking a part-time intern to assist with Social Media and Marketing, Public Relations and Development projects in the summer/fall 2024 semester. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 1) Expand social media presence and platforms; make recommendations regarding new platforms and their most effective use, and register with new social media platforms. 2) Promotion of Albacore Park through social media (such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Youtube, etc...) through regular posting to raise public awareness of our organization and engage public interest. 3) Research and recommend local and online advertising opportunities. 4) Research and recommend best options for SEM/SEO. 5) Compose, design, and manage Albacore Park's print, digital advertisements and press releases. 6) Coordinate production and distribution of flyers and other promotional materials. 7) Work with Executive Director, Development Manager and Development Committee to develop better membership cultivation strategies. Internship stipend awarded up to $2,000.

HISTORIC ARCHIVES/COLLECTIONS INTERN - UNPAID

Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking part-time interns to assist with archival and collections-based projects in the summer/fall 2024 season. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Updating both the paper and electronic object records; Collections tasks related to the installation and de-installation of exhibitions; Assisting in the accessioning of new acquisitions and deaccessioning of inappropriate collections; working with the Executive Director in researching the archives and collections in preparation for public educational  programs and upcoming exhibitions, and assisting the Executive Director and Historic Archives Committee representatives in day-to-day collections maintenance tasks. Knowledge of Past Perfect software is preferable but training will be provided.  Albacore Park Submarine Museum seeks highly motivated undergraduate and/or graduate students in the fields of historic preservation, history, museum studies, military history and library and information sciences. Applicants should be curious, passionate, and exhibit an attention to detail. Interns must commit to a minimum of two 8-hour days with at least 140 hours per the semester. RETAIL MANAGEMENT INTERN - PAID

Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking a part-time intern to assist with the following in the 2024 summer/fall semesters:

  • Assist in setting up, implement, and manage the online gift shop.  This is the major project deliverable for the internship

  • Research and recommend sales techniques and promotional offers for enhancement of gift shop sales

  • Assist with ticket attendance and gift shop retail

  • Work with the inventory specialist to inventory, stock, manage and display gift shop merchandise

  • Research and recommend products for sales

  • Maximize storage space use for product inventory

  • With Inventory Specialist, evaluate merchandising sales

  • Research and assist in implementing POS software to track -opt-in information from visitors and customers (email addresses, mailing addresses, etc...)

The internship will be paid at $2,000 at the end of the intern period. Interns must commit to a minimum of two 8-hour days with at least 140 hours per the semester.  EVENT COORDINATOR INTERNSHIP - PAID

Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking a part-time Event Coordinator intern to assist in event bookings for the 2024 summer semester. This is a very hands-on internship that deeply engages you through the depths of each event. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to assisting in planning and execution of the events, working on marketing and promotional activities along with other interns, handling communication with clients and sponsors, coordinating event logistics, and conducting market research. You will have a chance to learn about fundraising, and working with corporate and social events. In addition to booking events, you will develop a volunteer base to assist in the execution of these events so that each event runs smoothly.  We are looking for students with great people skills, positive attitudes, and a strong work ethic. Requirements: excellent writing and communication skills; strong organizational skills; attention to detail; creativity; ability to work independently and in a team. This is a strong opportunity for anyone wishing to learn more about event hosting and creation.  A paid stipend of $1,000 will be awarded at the conclusion of the internship. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

EDUCATION INTERN - PAID

Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking part-time interns to assist with Virtual Reality and education-based program programs in the 2024 summer season. Museum educational teaching will be the focus of the internship with other possible responsibilities such as: -research, design and implementation of public programming which focuses on the Cold War Era as it pertains to the USS Albacore, develop VR learning strategies and programming which can be presented in a variety of social media contexts. Research can include oral histories, the development of hands-on activities and creating an interpretation plan. The intern will report to the Executive Director to review information and strategies. Albacore Park Submarine Museum seeks highly motivated undergraduate and/or graduate students in the fields of historic preservation, history, museum studies, and education. Knowledge of applied STEM/STEAM curriculum a plus but we are more than willing to train.  Applicants should be curious, passionate, and exhibit an attention to detail. Interns must commit to a minimum of two 8-hour days per week with at least 140 hours per the semester. A $2,000 stipend will be paid at the conclusion of the internship.
