NEWSLETTER #100 MAY 2022

Shipmate,

I am late with this newsletter. No excuse. It is a milestone of sorts.

There is a new attraction at the Park. As mentioned in the last newsletter, the GHOST has finally arrived. My wife maintains it looks like a large tarantula! I tend to agree. It stands high enough that someone drove his pick up under it one night. The large rocks that line the perimeter of the parking lot will be replaced to prevent further drive under occurrences. They were moved to allow the GHOST to be placed on its concrete pads.

I had the opportunity to attend the Memorial Day Service at the Park on May 30th. As always, it was a class presentation. Members of the Portsmouth High School band provided music, the Thresher Base Commander was the Master of Ceremonies and the Base performed the Tolling of the Boats ceremony. Guest speaker was Captain Michael Oberdorf, Commanding Officer of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.  A Bravo Zulu to Patti and her crew for putting this together.

Shipmate Paul Azarian has relocated to 228 Horseshoe Drive, Garnet Valley, PA 19060. I regret to report that shipmate Edward (Tex) Schovajsa departed on Eternal Patrol on March 3rd. Tex was an EN2 while serving on Albacore from 1957-1958.

Until next time, shipmate, stay safe and healthy.
